Bentonite

Bentonite is a clay rock, also known as montmorillonite clay rock, often containing a small amount of illite, kaolinite, halloysite, chlorite, zeolite, quartz, feldspar, calcite, etc.; hardness 1 ~ 2, density 2 ~3g/cm3. According to the type, content and layer charge of montmorillonite exchangeable cations, bentonite can be divided into sodium bentonite (alkaline soil), calcium bentonite (alkaline soil), natural bleaching earth (acid soil or acid clay), among which Calcium-based bentonites include calcium sodium base and calcium magnesium base.

Required equipment

In order to meet the requirements for higher fineness of bentonite in industries such as paper, plastics and rubber products, it is necessary to increase the fineness of bentonite to improve the quality of the product. The ultrafine grinding process mainly includes grinding and stripping method, high pressure extrusion method and air flow pulverization method. Bentonite grinding equipment usually uses SCM series ultra-fine grinding or MTW European version T-shaped grinding machine.

Main use of bentonite

Because bentonite has good water swellability, dispersion and suspension and pulpability, it is used in drilling mud, flame retardant (suspended fire extinguishing), sewage treatment; it can also be used as filler in the paper industry to optimize the performance of coatings. Focus, hiding power, water resistance, scrub resistance, etc.; because of the good adhesion, it can replace the starch used in the textile industry. The sizing of the yarn is both grain-saving and not hairy, and it does not emit odor after the paddle. Double wins in one fell swoop.

In general, sodium montmorillonite (or sodium bentonite) is better than calcium. However, the distribution of calcareous soil in the world is much wider than that of sodium soil. Therefore, in addition to strengthening the search for sodium soil, it is necessary to modify the calcareous soil to make it a sodium soil.

Bentonite (montmorillonite) can be used as binder, suspending agent, thixotropic agent, stabilizer, purification decolorizer, filler, feed, catalyst, etc. due to its good physical and chemical properties. It is widely used in agriculture, light industry and cosmetics. In the fields of medicines and the like, montmorillonite is a natural mineral material with a wide range of uses.
